This research application has been reviewed by the University of Reading (UoR) and Henley Business School (HBS), UK, Research Ethics Committee. It has been given a favourable ethical opinion for conduct. (Ethics approval UoR:#2022-199-JV and HBS: #SREC-HBS-20241007-ANNG2766)
What is this research about?
Work is a big part of our life and there are many situations at work that could trigger our emotions. We hope to understand more about emotions at workplace, so we can find suitable interventions that helps with emotion regulation and promote well-being at workplace.
Who should participate?
If you are 21 years and above, have worked full-time for at least 1 year, we would be very grateful if you could take part in this study to share workplace situations that trigger strong emotions and rate how you feel.
What is required of the participant?
This online study will take approximately 20-30 minutes of your time to complete three survey sections:
Share one negative and one positive workplace experiences (approximately 15 mins)
Complete a questionnaire on the traits to identify and describe emotions (approximately 5 mins)
Information on non-identifiable demographic and subjective happiness (approximately 5 mins)

We do not collect any forms of data that can identify you in this study (such as name, email address, ID number, mobile number, etc.). Participation in this research is voluntarily and you may exit from the study at any point in time without giving reasons. All information shared will be kept confidential and securely stored with only an anonymous number identifying your data and stored securely on University of Reading’s cloud storage.
All information will be seen only by the research team, and we may use the study information in articles that might be published, as well as in academic presentations. No one will be identified in all published and written data resulting from the study.
Risk & Caution
It is important to note that individuals differ in their reactions towards memory or thoughts of different situations. It is not recommended that you participate in the current study if you think you are particularly sensitive to scenarios or memory relating to workplace conflicts or challenges. You can withdraw or stop participating in this survey at any time you feel uncomfortable to continue.
If you currently experience, or have experienced, trauma, symptoms of stress or very negative mood, including anxiety and depression, you should carefully consider whether you wish to take part. If you think that this study is not for you, please do not take part.
